USF Distribution Services is purchasing Special Dispatch, a Texas intrastate freight consolidator and overnight distributor. The acquisition cost has not been disclosed. Journal of Commerce (08/12/99) P. 6

Firm Reaches Plea Deal About Illegal Shipments

St. Louis-based Superior Hauling and Fast Transit will pay the federal government $100,000 in a plea agreement in which the carrier acknowledges not reporting hazardous material shipments to the Transportation Department.

The company will also have to work out a system for federal hazmat registration and begin a training program for its workers.

Vice President Tony Pallme, who plead guilty to lying to state and federal officials, will be sentenced by a U.S. District Court judge in October. St. Louis Post-Dispatch Online (08/11/99)

Nissan Diesel America has appointed Midwest district manager David Spoerl to be its new eastern regional manager and promoted Matt Freund from district manager to national fleet manager.
